Fluid Dynamics Engineer for Scent Dispersion System Project

Polygon Productions is a pioneering tech-startup on a mission to revolutionize the live event experience through immersive sound and art.

We are looking for a Fluid Dynamics Engineer to manage a pilot project to modify our scent dispersion system.  This is a project based role, where you will be responsible for developing a system that can blend up to 50 scents, integrate with a smoke machine, and distribute the scented smoke through 12 controllable outputs.

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated engineer based in Thailand and willing to travel to Chang Mai where our CTO is based for project development meetings.

If you are an mechanical or electrical engineer with an interest in fluid dynamics we’d love to hear from you!  The target project length is up to 2 months, with flexibility for you to work around your existing schedule.

We have designed a prototype smoke dispersion system that channels fog/smoke around our large 25m diameter structure. Smoke is generated using a traditional smoke machine/fogger and distributed through PVC pipes.

We are looking for a mechanical engineer to help us modify our single source scent dispersion system into a system capable of mixing up to 50 scents.

  • Develop or modify the client’s existing designs for a 50 channel scent system into a workable prototype.

  • Develop an electronic control system for scent selection, blending, and output point activation

  • Select and source appropriate materials and components, including scent containers, solenoid valves, peristaltic pumps, and insulated double-wall stainless steel piping

  • Collaborate with the team to assemble, test, and troubleshoot the system

  • Install and calibrate the scent distribution system at the client's site

  • Train the client on how to operate and maintain the system effectively

  • Ensure safety and quality control measures are in place throughout the project

  • Provide documentation, including system schematics, user manuals, and troubleshooting guides

To be successful in the role you should have :

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)

  • 3+ years of experience in designing and implementing fluid distribution systems, electronic control systems, and/or HVAC systems

  • Strong knowledge of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and insulation principles

  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for system design and simulation

  • Familiarity with microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi) and programming languages (e.g., C++, Python)

  • Experience working with smoke machines and/or scent distribution systems is a plus

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality control

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Prototyping and Testing Skills: The candidate should be experienced in building and testing prototypes to ensure that the modified smoke dispersion system functions correctly and meets the project requirements.

  • Attention to Detail: The candidate should have a high level of attention to detail to ensure that the modified smoke dispersion system is safe, functional, and meets all design specifications.

We are looking for a skilled engineer based in Thailand who is able to travel to Chang Mai for product development meetings and testing.

The project has flexible working hours, which can be structured around your personal working situation.  May be suitable for someone who is working full time and willing to work evenings and weekends.

  • A unique startup experience, building a high-growth company that is quickly becoming the leader in a global market from the ground up.
